Kabretwa Clinic

We had our first clinic this past Saturday!!!
This meant stuffing 16 people in a 15 passenger matatu and driving for over an hour over VERY bumpy roads up to Mt. Elgon.   All of us mazungus had our teeth involuntarily clenched but I noticed that the Kenyans never stopped talking the whole way there.
I felt a little overwhelmed at first when the doctors and nurses were setting up stations in the host church.  What could I do to help?  So, for most of the day I played outside with the kids, again employing bubbles and even the bubble caps for fun games.  The people here are so friendly and kind.
In the afternoon, I helped at the wound-care station.  Mostly this meant cleaning and bandaging infected cuts.  It's amazing how many of these wounds could have been avoided by proper cleanliness.  We served over 230 people before we had to close the doors and drive home.
This may have been my favorite day so far and I can't wait for the clinic this weekend.
